What is Run For?

Run For is Sense’s virtual running event, taking place in October 2022. Sign up and run a marathon in the month of October (or you can set your own distance if you’d prefer). You also choose your own fundraising target. Then, the best part of the Run For challenge; you will find out which amazing and inspirational child supported by Sense we have teamed you up with. You will then get updates from them and find out how the money you raise is helping children just like them as you progress through your challenge.

How do I sign up?

Is there a registration fee?

No, it’s free to register!

When will I find out which child I’ve been matched with for Run For?

We will email you after you have signed up to let you know which inspirational child you have been teamed up with!

Can I take part in a wheelchair?

Definitely. You can either log your miles manually and add them by clicking on the ‘log fitness’ button when you sign in to your account, or you can track your distance using Strava.

Fundraising

How much do I need to raise?

It’s up to you what you set your fundraising target, but we recommend trying out a target of £150. This could pay for a child supported by Sense to have a virtual session with one of our specialist team, helping them develop their communication skills. You’ll also get a nifty medal if you raise £150 or more!

How do I fundraise?

When you register to take part, you’ll automatically be set up with a fundraising page. You can personalise it with things like a profile picture and some words on why you’re taking on the challenge, and then share the link with as many people as possible!

How do I change my fundraising target?

Log in to Run For account, then navigate to your dashboard and click the tab “Edit My Page”. From there you can edit your fundraising target, add a profile photo or update your page to reflect your progress in the challenge.

How do I pay sponsorship I have raised offline?

You can log cash donations on your fundraising page by going to your Event Dashboard, clicking the “My Donations” tab, then clicking the “Add Offline Donations” button.

How do I get a free t-shirt?

Once you raise £25 of your fundraising target, we’ll send you a free running t-shirt to wear with pride whilst you’re completing the rest of your challenge. You should receive this within 5-10 working days of reaching £25

How do I get a medal?

If you raise £150 or more, we will send you out an exclusive Run For medal after October 31st, once you’ve completed the challenge!

Where does the money I raise go?

The money which is raised during Run For will ensure that we can keep supporting children who are deafblind or living with complex disabilities, providing them with the specialist help they need to learn, communicate and thrive in a way that’s best suited to them. Tracking

How do I log my distance?

There are two ways you can do this:

  • You can easily link your page to your Strava, Fitbit or Garmin account that will record any distance you cover.
  • Manually add your miles onto your fundraising page totaliser.

Can I log my activity manually?

Yes! You can manually add your activity by going to your Event Dashboard, clicking the “My Fitness Activity” tab, then entering the details of your activity.
